Ykove
The project was conceived by a team from Brigham Young University and Utah Valley University and created for the 2019 Walt Disney Imagineering's Imaginations Design Competition. This project is the sole property of Walt Disney Imagineering and all rights to use these ideas are exclusive to Walt Disney Imagineering. The competition is a way for students and recent graduates to showcase their talents and for Walt Disney Imagineering to identify new talent.
Walt Disney Imagineering Imaginations Competition
I led a team of 4 undergrads to identify an ancient or natural wonder and bring the history of the area to life in a new experience. My team and I chose to design an eco-friendly 'mini cruise' within Guanabara Bay in Rio de Janeiro. The competition concluded in February 2019, resulting in our placing as a Semifinalist team.
My contributions included overall project management, 3D modeling, and animation.

Walt Disney Imagineering Imaginations Competition
I led a team of 4 undergrads to reimagine and revitalize an actual ghost town into a new experience. My team and I developed an idea around a legendary concept of a lost city, placed in Animas Forks, Colorado. The competition concluded in February 2018, resulting in our placing as a Semifinalist team.
My contributions included overall project management, 3D modeling, 3D printing, and animation.

I led a team of 3 undergrads to design an outdoor relaxation venue for Brigham Young University. We designed an area of respite encompassing a globe fountain, with a story focused on reaching our potential. The competition concluded in January 2017, resulting in our placing as a Semifinalist team.
My contributions included overall project management and 3D modeling.

Personal Project
While researching online and seeing how some of the ‘pros’ do it best, I happened upon a YouTube channel by Will Cogley. He’s got loads of videos showcasing his various animatronic designs. His “compact eye mechanism” caught my attention and seemed to be a good fit for my project.
Rather than reinvent the wheel, I decided to learn from Will’s design. He has all of the models online in STL format, but I want to include them in my overall Solidworks assembly, so I took the files and re-modeled them in Solidworks!
Everything you see here was modeled by me (except the servos). While I did not design the mechanics, I surely learned a ton by modeling them!
This was a fun way to knock some dust off my Solidworks skills, and I look forward to continuing my overall animatronic designs.
Manufacturing Processes 382 Course at BYU
I worked with a classmate to build/machine a functioning 'pipsqueak' engine for a manufacturing course at BYU. The work was evenly split between us with the 3D modeling, part drawing, machining process writing, and actual production of the overall design.
It was an awesome insight into the world of machining and manufacturing!

ping-pong ball launching robot
Mechatronics Gallery
Mechatronics 330 Course at BYU
I collaborated with 2 other students to design and build a functioning robot that could launch ping-pong balls into detected goals. My contributions focused on the overall turret design and trigger/sensor. As seen in the video, the robot had to detect which goal was active, and launch the balls into the goal. Our team came in first, beating 2nd place by over 100 points!
